How to Live With Other People's Children
Published in Hardcover by E P Dutton (October, 1982)
Author: June Noble
Average review score:

Excellent, if a bit dated.
This book, unlike many modern books on stepchild-rearing, acknowledges the difficulties and negative emotions that are present in the stepfamily situation, matter-of-factly. There is no guilt induction, or skirting around that issue that many steparents are not comfortable with their role, and may even not like their stepchildren (Diety forbid). Instead, this book helps you understand how work through or around these obstacles, and will even frankly tell you if your marriage might not have been the best thing for you. It emphasizes this important fact:

While the children are not the most important thing in the family, they are the most permanent. While spouses may come or go, children and parents are stuck with each other.

So, if you can ignore the strange circa 1970 references "if you are uncomfortable with pot smoking in the house but your spouse is not . . ." then this book can be a great tool to help you better come to terms with your position in t! he stepfamily!

Author: Erin Urban
Average review score:

Excellent for maritime historians as well as art enthusiasts
Erin Urban's moving biography of John Noble not only does an excellent job of introducing and explaining his work, but also allows the reader to understand why the work is important. Anyone who is at all interested in maritime history, shipbuilding, or even rigging will find a wealth of information here. Everyone will be moved by these superb lithographs that are a testament to those who worked for and built this country.

I Will Die Free
Published in Paperback by Pacific Press Publishing Association (December, 1991)
Authors: Noble Alexander, Nobel Alexander, and Kay D. Rizzo
Average review score:

Must Read lesson in Faith and Courage
This short book contains the story of Humberto Alexander's 22 years in Castro's prisons. It is a story of courage and faith under the ugliest of conditions. Alexander was shot, tortured repeatedly, starved, and treated in the most unspeakably inhuman ways, yet through it all his faith in Christ allows him and his fellow prisoners to survive and even to love those who were torturing them. You will not regret reading this book!

Japanese Geishas Stained Glass Coloring Book
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (November, 1998)
Author: Marty Noble
Average review score:

Beautiful plates! Fun for adults young and old!
Don't let the suggested age for this book throw you - a person of any age would enjoy coloring these Japanese drawings. This delightful little coloring book has 16 beautiful transparent plates of geishas (reading, dancing, playing instruments, etc.) that can be colored with any medium and then placed over a lamp or window to give the illusion of stained glass. My only wish is that there were more pictures.

Crash Course to Enlightenment
This book is suggested, in my opinnion, for those people with a basic understanding of Buddhism. It should be a follow up to introductory texts, which explain some fundamental Buddhist beliefs and the system of thought from whence it comes.
This book is not written simply, and it is especially a text which should be studied in greater detail than say, a novel, becuase here are the rites of one path to awareness.
Ofcourse, some of the ideas are TOO MUCH, and one should be always be aware of the differences between our age and the age in which is was written, for back then times were different, teachers were less scarce, and the teachings far more accepted.
But this is a fundamental book which should be read. Take it with grain of salt, be aware, because it displays methods. And the results of those methods are what we are ultimately concerned with, things that change our perspectives, and in essence, ourselves.

The Joy of Being a Boy
Published in Paperback by New Life Images (May, 1994)
Authors: Elizabeth Noble and Leo Sorger
Average review score:

A great little book!
It's odd, all the books you never even knew existed until you became a parent . . . like this one.

Authors Noble and Sorger have put together a small book, primarily photos with captions, for boys whose penises are left intact (not circumcised). Even very young boys can get the message that being left normal is not "abnormal," since that's the way they were designed.

With the rate of routine (non-medical) circumcisions dropping every year, this book [hopefully] will be totally unnecessary in just a few more years: normal boys will once again outnumber their circumcised friends, as they do everywhere else in the world.

Until then, this is a nice little reminder for boys that they are fine just the way they were made.

Highly recommended (by me & my son)

Just for Me: The Self-Esteem and Wellness Guide for Girls Ages 10-15
Published in Paperback by Spiritseeker Pub (March, 1994)
Authors: Donna Ternes Wanner, Candice Moore, and Claudia Noble
Average review score:

Required reading for young women!!
This is an excellent book for young women and I readily recommend it to anyone who has pre-teen daughters, or nieces. I gave it to my 12-year old niece and she enjoyed it. It is an excellent tool for young women. Donna Wanner is an excellent teacher and motivator for young women (and all women, for that matter). I should know, she was my first grade teacher 17 years ago and her guidance and teaching influenced my life greatly, and she has always stuck out in my mind as the best teacher I have ever had.
